AMANDA RUPPEL
Star Maker is very excited to welcome Amanda Ruppel to the Star Maker classroom in this, her 11th year on staff. Amanda has been dancing for 25 years and is an alumna of Star Maker. While a student at Star Maker she won many regional titles in both dance and baton, as well as a college scholarship to study dance.
Amanda's professional performance background includes performing as the Swing and Assistant Dance Captain on the 25th Anniversary National Tour of CATS performing in the US, Canada and Brazil. While on tour Amanda taught master dance classes throughout the country.
A 'Broadway Theatre Project' alumnus, Amanda has studied and performed with Broadway performers, choreographers, composers and directors. Musical Theater has a special place in her heart and she loves to share it with her students.
Amanda graduated with honors from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia majoring in Jazz Dance Performance. While there she was awarded special accommodation for Performance in Jazz and was chosen to perform in works by both faculty and guest choreographers. She was also the TA for Dance History and has an extensive knowledge of dance styles, choreographers, and time periods.
She has experience teaching all levels of dance from Pre-Ballet/Tap for ages 3,4 to Jazz, Hip Hop & Tap for 5,6 to Company Classes for teens and young adults. She has taught and choreographed for both soloists and group routines for competitions and has been awarded Platinum and Double Platinum prizes as well as Entertainment, Choreography, and Top Teacher awards. Her work frequently places in the overall standings.
Amanda has done choreography for video and film as well, most recently as choreographer for internationally released children's video, Hip Hop Homeroom, an industrial teaching math to young children thru song and dance.
She is a regional and national level adjudicator for dance competitions throughout the east coast. Amanda also has worked closely with dance costume catalog photo shoots as a model and professional poser.
Enhancing her knowledge and understanding of the kinesiology of the body, Amanda has studied at West Side Dance Physical Therapy focusing on Dance Rehabilitation.
Amanda prides herself on teaching her students safe techniques to accomplish their goals and helping them to better understand their strengths and weaknesses.
Amanda resides in Three Bridges and when not relaxing at home with her cat, Licorice, she can be found around town enjoying time with her husband, Eric.
