Competition Results:

Star Maker School of the Performing Arts of Flemington and Clinton announces their top champions for the recent dance season. Ashley Rossi, 7, daughter of Tony and Dana Rossi of Raritan Township is the 2009 Showstopper American Dance Championship National Jazz Solo Champion for her age. A member of Star Maker’s Dance Company Competition Team, she attended the National Contest directed by Debbie and Dave Roberts of Murrells Inlet and held in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina this summer. The Copper Hill School third grader also claimed sixth place overall 8-and-under contestants in every dance genre for her solo performance to ‘Broadway Baby.’

Also topping the solo scores for Star Maker was Hunterdon Central Sophomore, Teal DePaola, 15 also of Raritan Township. DePaola performed a baton and dance piece to Linda Eder’s, ‘I Am What I Am’ to capture the Divisional National Senior Championship for 15-19 year olds as well as the title for age 15. Other members attending the national contest were Kevin Csolak, Alexis Galaini, Christina George, Cassidy Johnson, Megan McNally, Morgan Novak. High scoring group was awarded to ‘Serenity,’ a lyrical routine dedicated to the armed forces with choreography by Jerri Brown, of Hopatcong.

In the qualifier, members captured titles in Edison, NJ last spring for lyrical with ‘Serenity’ as well as ‘How We Do It Over Here’ a Hip Hop piece choreographed by Jihan Armaroli, of Manhattan, NY and danced by Kevin Csolak, Hillary Dadouris, Teal DePaola, Shannan Dowling, Jordan Fusco, Megan Gecik, Christina George, Alyssa Haggan, Cassidy Johnson, Brianna Mastrull, Rebecca Pytell, Chelsea Riccardi, Sarah Riley, Maria Sacchi, and Zoe Tawa. Top soloists were Brianna Mastrull in the Senior division, Hannah Balzer for Teens, Melanie Sailer in Junior, Taylor Kramer in Minis.

Top winners for StarQuest were in the Senior division, ‘How We Do It Over Here’ HipHop by Armaroli, in the Junior division, ‘Remember Me’ a lyrical routine choreographed by Jamie Day of Raritan Township and performed by Katherine Horner, Taylor Kramer, Emily Molter, Katie Povall, Alexandra Raslowsky and Ashley Rossi.

Top solo honors went to Laura Schaufelberger in Seniors, Jordan Fusco for Teens, Emily Molter in Juniors and Taylor Kramer for Minis.

Ticket To Broadway top dancers were; in Senior Solo Christina George; for teens, Jordan Fusco; in Junior, Rachel Allen; and for Minis, Ashley Rossi. Top group awards went to ‘Trendy,’ Teen Tap choreographed by Brown and danced by Hannah Blazer, Kevin Csolak, Kim Fivek, Jordan Fusco, Avery Gebhardt, and Sarah Riley. Also topping off the group event was a Jazz number to ‘These Boots’ danced by the ‘Trendy’ group plus Shannan Dowling, Rachel Allen and Rebecca Pytell as well as ‘Remember Me’ in Juniors. ‘Rock Star,’ choreographed by Day won the Mini Title.

Move Productions finished the season for the dance company, now in their thirty-fifth season under the direction of Leesa Csolak of Raritan Township with ‘Serenity’ taking the Senior category, ‘Another Cha Cha,’ winning the Teen division, and ‘Remember Me with another win in Juniors. Soloists on top were; Laura Schaufelberger for Seniors, Jordan Fusco in Teen, Melanie Sailer for Juniors and Cameron Clifford in the Mini division.

Company dancers include Emily Bucher, Natalie Martin, Hannah McCreesh, Kassidy Peterson, Danielle Riccardi. Amy Allen, Kate Amabile, Anthony Amorim, Alexa Carten, Stephanie Delasey, Xining Gao, Natalia Gorski, Madison Haggan, Brittany Marcantuono, Kaitlin Marinelli, Sophia Marra, Melissa Molter, Olivia Murphy, Abby Newsome, Katie Pisciotta, Bridgette Powell, Troy Powell, Julia Qian, Elizabeth Shi, Ashley Smith, Dillon Spear, Fiona Spear, Lilly Walsh, Caliana Weaver, Julia Weisberger, and Catalina Zamora. Kristina Burgoon, Jillian Cimorelli, Meghan Davis, Jake Deibert, Jared Dietze, Brian England, Robin Lako, Kaitlynn Perone, Sean Pohle, Lauren Price, Erin Shannon, Jasmone Smith, and Emily Weider, Alexa Carten, Maureen Healy, Megan Healy, Jessie Masaitis, Sydney Powell. Choreographers and staff for the company include Jihan Armaroli, Megan Baniewicz, Amanda Bay, Jerri Brown, Leesa Csolak, Kurt Csolak, Jamie Day, and Kathleen Weaver.

The Star Maker team is sponsoring master classes with teachers from New York City, open to all dancers. The group also sponsors scholarships for performers through the ‘Chance To Dance’ Foundation and informational seminars on professional children in show business. Members of the Entertainers Dance Company of the Star Maker School of the Performing Arts in both Clinton and Flemington took many top honors recently at the Showstopper American Dance Championships held in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The contest, directed by Dave and Debbie Roberts of Murrell's Inlet drew competitors age 5-65 from throughout the United States and Canada.
Members from the school taking Over-All Champion awards were; Soloist, Jamie Day, of Flemington for all teacher solos with her self-choreographed baton and Lyrical dance to 'All For Believing' and Kurt Csolak and Amanda Bay, both of Raritan Township for their Tap Duet, dancing to 'I Only Want To Be With You,' a self choreographed comedic number the professional division and Nicole Weaver of Raritan Township in the Senior Photogenic division.

Double Platinum Awards went to 'Football Follies' for Teen Tap Large Group and placing in the top 20 for teen large groups; and 'Devil Went Down' for Junior Tap Small Group. Tap numbers were danced by Hannah Balzer, Kurt Csolak, Kevin Csolak, Teal DePaola, Jordan Fusco, Kimberly Fivek, Megan Gecik, Andrew George, Maureen Healy, Megan Healy, Brianna Mastrull, Morgan Novak, Sarah Riley, Maria Sacchi, Laura Schaufelberger, and Nia Smith.

Soloists capturing top awards and double platinum were Danielle George in lyrical with 'They Weren't There' and Amanda Bay for 'Be Be My Love' in Lyrical.

Platinum winners were; 'Ladies Night' in Teen Large Group Open placing in the top twenty for Teen Groups. 'Fossefication' in Teen Line Hip Hop; 'Batman' in Production; 'Inside The Tornado' for Teen Small Group Lyrical; 'Walk The Walk' in Teen Small Group Jazz, 'Hide and Seek' in Teen Lyrical Large Group; 'Pretty Fly' in Teen Jazz Large Group; 'Time After Time' for Junior Small Group Lyrical; 'Control Her' for Junior Small Group Jazz; Kevin Csolak and Andrew George in Tap Duet, Jamie Day, Flemington and Megan McNally, Ringoes in Baton performing to 'The Special Two.'

Gold winners were; 'Heartbreaker' for Junior Jazz Large Group; 'Halloween' in Teen Pompon Small Group; 'Work Me Down' in Junior Small Group Baton; '007' for Teen Open Small Group; Megan Healy and Maureen Healy in Lyrical Duet, and Megan Baniewicz and Ariel Pinto for Hip hop Duet, 'Self Explanatory.'

Gold Soloists were; Laura Schaufelberger in Jazz, Rachel Allen in Jazz and Lyrical, Hannah Balzer for Jazz, , Teal DePaola for Jazz, Shannon Dowling in Lyrical and Baton, Alexis Galaini in Pointe, Christina George for Lyrical, Megan Gecik for Lyrical and Jazz, Alyssa Haggan for Lyrical, Jessie Masaitis for Lyrical and Jazz, Brianna Mastrull for Jazz, Morgan Novak for Lyrical, Ariel Pinto for Lyrical and Jazz, Chelsea Riccardi for Lyrical and Baton, Sarah Riley for Jazz and Lyrical, Maria Sacchi for Baton, Kevin Csolak in Jazz, Rebecca Pytell for Baton,and Christina George in Open.

In the Recreational categories 'Diamonds' choreographed by Day and assisted by Megan Baniewicz of Cranford stole the top awards with first place over-all danced by Taylor Kramer, Ashley Smith, Alexa Carten, Stephanie Delasey, Olivia Murphy, Katie Pisciotta, Sydney Powell, Alexandra Raslowsky, Julia Weisberger, Dillon Spear, Calianna Weaver, Emily Molter, Melissa Molter, Lilly Walsh, Melanie Sailer, Katie Povall, Katherine Horner, Brigette Powell, Amy Allen and Cameron Clifford. The same group danced to 'At The Hop' in tap and took second and their ballet dance placed first in ballet and 3rd over-all.

Winning the prestigious double-platinum for recreational solos was Sydney Powell of Raritan Township with her 'Honky Cat' number choreographed by Kurt Csolak.
Recieving a Gold award and 6th Overall in Tap Trio age 5,6 was Troy Powell, Sydney Raslowsky and Madison Haggan dancing to 'Peppermint Twist.' The threesome also placed 7th Overall with 'Love Me' in Jazz Trio, both choreographed by Jamie Day.

Soloists recieving Platinum in recreational division were Taylor Kramer for Lyrical, Emily Molter for Lyrical, Melissa Molter for Song and Dance, Alexandra Raslowsky for Lyrical, Melanie Sailer for Open, Lilly Walsh in Tap, and Calianna Weaver for Musical Theatre.

Recreational Soloists recieving Gold were; Amy Allen in Jazz, Cameron Clifford for Jazz, Katie Pisciotta fro Character, Troy Powell for Jazz, Melanie Sailer for Jazz, Ashley Smith in Tap, and Katie Povall for Lyrical.

Other members dancing in group event were Stephanie Haggan of Readington and Zoe Tawa of Lahaska, Pa. Choreographers included Jerri Brown of Phillipsburg, Amanda Bay of Raritan Township, Jamie Day of Flemington, Megan Baniewicz of Cranford, Jihan Armaroli of New York, NY and director, Leesa Csolak of Raritan Township.
